Living in Durham the past 12 years my wife and I have seen the appearance of a bunch of new, trendy restaurants. We’ve remarked to each other on numerous occasions how Durham has become somewhat of a food town. Well, it seems that we’re not the only ones that recognized that. The New York Times yesterday came out with an article titled “Durham, a Tobacco Town, Turns to Local Food“. It’s a good article, and along with the accompanying slide show, gives a very good overview of the local food scene in Durham. I highly recommend reading it. My only complaint is that they didn’t mention probably our favorite restaurant in downtown Durham: Toast. But, still, I’m very glad we’re being recognized nationally for something other than tobacco.
